Your Midwife

Hi! I’m Heather Swartz, a certified nurse midwife, licensed in Virginia, West Virginia and Maryland. I have lived in this western Loudoun community and worked as a registered nurse since 2006.

I became a midwife in 2013 and worked in the hospital setting until 2019 when I started supporting home births in the area. I often say that the hospital is a great place to be if you are sick or injured but a difficult place if you are trying to “do normal”. I am grateful for my hospital experience because it taught me complications and interventions, but it also taught me the cascade effect of interventions and non-evidenced based care consequences.

I am validated at each birth that the home is the best place for mother and baby if you are low risk and desire low intervention, physiological birth.

I live with the love of my life, Joe, in Bluemont, VA. We have four pretty fantastic kids: Rock, Hayden, Eva and Caleb. 

Your Birth Assistant

Courtney Schultz is our primary birth assistant and social media guru. She is also a certified professional midwife student! We invite her to your birth for her extensive birth support skills and her warm personality. She is the mom to the coolest little girl around, Letty.
